Services

When Museums Unlimited was founded as an LLC not for profit organization the intent was to provide a broad array of web based applications and  services to the museum and historical site community. A permanent link to the original intended services is  MULTD/Serv. 

Projects

Three types of projects were considered one prototype was to be developed for  a historic site, another for a museum, and a third for Galleries & Exhibits. They are to be found at MULTD/Proj

The first lesson that we learned was that that each project had a (user) community that was for the most part distinct from the other and that Galleries & Exhibits are profit oriented and while the other  two are dedicated to the preservation of a culture. Never the two shall meet seems to be the way it is.

As we researched the work that was underway in the world we discovered that Europe and Asia were funding projects that were more advanced than many of the efforts in the US.  Some of the more interesting  links  may be found at MULTD/Links

  Strategy

 After the first iteration of the first prototype was developed it became clear that museum visitor-ship  was a concern to the community znd that location based services (LBS)  were going to become a dominant player in the mobile communications arena. Our strategy was to exploit LBS applications to serve museum visitor-ship. For more information see MULTD/Strategy
